Raja Murugan, a social activist and advocate from Madurai, went to the Madras High Court’s Madurai bench. He said that movies made by Kanagaraj promote violence, glorify it, and aren’t educational or entertaining. Murugan also thinks Kanagaraj might have some issues, calling him a psychopath, because all his movies seem to have women getting hurt, and Murugan suggests checking Kanagaraj’s mental health with a psychologist.

Murugan claimed that the new Leo movie broke a lot of rules! He said it went against about 80% of the Indian laws by showing things like mass killings, drugs, alcohol, bothering women, being mean and violent, and using dangerous weapons like knives and iron rods. He also said the movie had scenes of making explosives at home, pretending to be someone else, and doing crimes against religion by using different religious symbols and encouraging revenge. He also said that in a democratic country like India, where the courts are working to punish wrongdoers and improve society against issues like drugs, murder, and religious conflicts, Kanagaraj’s movies are actually promoting and teaching young people about drugs, weapons, various harmful actions, and making crimes seem stylish.

Murugan suggested that actors in the movie should have a disclaimer before it, saying the actions are just for the film and not to try them at home, at least for 5 minutes.

Murugan mentioned that Kanagaraj’s violent movies could make people more anxious. He said studies show that watching aggression in movies activates brain areas controlling emotions, including aggression. Watching violence is linked to a higher risk of becoming aggressive, angry, and indifferent to others’ feelings.

Therefore, he wanted to file a complaint against the director and the Leo team under various sections of the law, including Section 120b, 153AA, 195, 276, 307, 323, 354, 506 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), and Section 25 of the Arms Act.
