In November 2023, the Maruti Suzuki WagonR led the hatchback pack, selling an impressive 16,567 units. This was a jump from the previous year’s 14,720 units, showing a cool 13 percent growth. The Maruti Suzuki Swift took second place, ahead of the Baleno and Alto.
The top 10 hatchbacks for November 2023
The small WagonR contributed 15,311 units to the sales, just a bit more than the 15,153 units in the same time in 2022, a tiny 1 percent increase. Meanwhile, the Baleno, a fancy hatchback, landed in third place with 12,961 units sold. Quite a drop from 20,945 units in November 2022, showing a big 38 percent decrease in sales in India. The Maruti Suzuki Alto, the friendly entry-level hatch, snagged fourth place with 8,076 unit sales. But that’s way less than the 15,663 units from the same time the previous year, a whopping 48 percent drop. The Hyundai i20 secured fifth place with 5,727 units, down from 7,236 units in November 2022, a 21 percent decrease.
In the second half of the list, Tata Motors’ Tiago took sixth place, selling 5,508 units, an 8 percent increase from the 5,097 units the year before. The Altroz premium hatchback got seventh place with 4,955 units, slightly down by 3 percent from the 5,084 units in November 2022, beating the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios.

The i10 got a total of 4,708 unit sales last month, a big drop from the 7,961 units in November 2022, showing a 41 percent decrease. The Toyota Glanza recorded 3,950 units, a 10 percent decrease from the 4,393 units in the same period.
Wrapping up the top ten, the Maruti Suzuki Celerio secured its place with 2,215 units. Compared to the same month in 2022 with 2,483 units, there was an 11 percent decrease in sales.
