Talking about her character Maya in the movie, Rani stressed the importance of exploring a woman’s desires and choices in relationships. She praised filmmaker Karan Johar for dealing with different themes, saying, “What’s lovely about Maya’s character is that she loved Rishi (Abhishek Bachchan) as a friend. She found the romance she was looking for in Shah Rukh Khan’s character.” More info about Rani Mukherji believes that the movie Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna caused a lot of divorces!.

She continued, Rani emphasized, “It’s important to talk about a woman’s desires and choices. Just because a husband doesn’t harm you physically, it doesn’t mean he’s good in bed or you love him. Women are rarely asked, ‘Are you attracted to this man?’” She added, “In fact, Karan Johar was brave to make a film like this when he wasn’t sure of the consequences. Supporting strong films and roles is crucial. In Indian cinema history, it will always be remembered as a film ahead of its time.”

Karan, the director of Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna, had disagreements with producer Aditya Chopra about a scene where characters played by Khan and Mukerji commit adultery. Despite reservations, Johar insisted on including the scene, realizing its potential impact on the story and societal discussions. Later, he understood, from a business perspective, it might have been smarter to leave out the controversial scene.

Released in 2006, Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna featured Khan, Bachchan, and Preity Zinta in important roles. The film explored themes of love, infidelity, and societal expectations, challenging traditional storytelling in Indian cinema.
