Clearing Up Salaar’s Story Back in 2014, Prashanth directed a film called Ugramm with Srimurali and Tilak Shekar. It was about a guy protecting a girl from bad guys. Salaar, featuring two friends, sparked rumors of being a remake. Vijay dismissed that, saying, “Prashanth knows how to make things different each time. So, Salaar is not a redo of Ugramm.”

Astrology Decides Release Dates Salaar could have hit screens in January, but Vijay thought it would clash with too many other Telugu and Tamil movies. So, they picked December 22, despite Dunki and Aquaman coming out on December 21. Vijay said, “We believe in our chosen dates based on astrology. It’s a tradition we’ve followed for ten years and plan to keep following.”

About Salaar The film is set in the made-up city of Khansaar and follows Varadharaj Mannar (played by Prithviraj), trying to take over the city from his dad. But trouble brews as enemies plan a coup. To fight back, he seeks help from his childhood buddy, Deva/Salaar (played by Prabhas). Jagapathi Babu is Raja Mannar, and Shruti is Salaar’s love interest, Aadhya.
