The director, Prasanth Varma, shared that his producer, Niranjan Reddy, gave him a push to make a superhero movie instead of the usual commercial ones. Hanuman is their favorite god and superhero. When he thought about creating a new Indian superhero world based on ancient stories (Itihasas), he knew Hanuman had to be the starting point. Hanu-Man may not be a huge movie, but we put in a lot of effort to make it great on a tight budget. For us, Hanuman is the main star—he’s a star worldwide. I felt this strong force pushing me to make the movie, and I think it’s Hanuman’s influence. Whether Hanu-Man is actually in the movie or not is a surprise, and who played the role is also a mystery.

The director made it clear why they chose to release the movie during Sankranti. Even before anyone else said anything, they decided to release it on the 12th. They already made agreements for the Hindi version, so they can’t change the date.
Hanu-Man is like a festival movie, not needing a big opening in the first week. They believe it will stay in theaters for a long time. Starting small, just like Hanuman did, they hope it grows big over time.
