As per a report from Times Of India on November 11, 2023, the notice was given by deputy chief commissioner (disabilities), PP Ambashta, to the directors of the film companies. They also want the CEO of the CBFC and the secretary of the information and broadcasting ministry to respond.

The notice points out that the CCPD noticed the film making fun of disabilities mentioned in the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016. These include speech and language disability, hearing impairment, visual impairment, and intellectual disability. The notice says that intentionally insulting or intimidating a person with a disability is against the law.

The CCPD is asking the filmmakers and the approval authorities to look into the matter, share their thoughts, and tell what actions they’ve taken within 10 days of getting the notice. They also say it’s important to comply because not providing the requested information is considered an offense under the law.

This notice comes after disability rights groups expressed concerns about the comedy film released on November 4, 2023. The groups claim that the film doesn’t take serious disabilities seriously and promotes harmful stereotypes.
