If the new Thar 5-Door is named Thar Armada, it could strike a chord with people who love the past. Among the seven names Mahindra trademarked, Thar Armada is our favorite. Mahindra Armada was a 5-door MUV produced from 1993 to 2001, measuring 4.3 meters in length.

Comparing the Mahindra Armada’s style to the new Thar 5-Door, they share the same Jeep-inspired design and are expected to be similar in size. I personally hope Thar Armada is the final choice, as it brings back memories for many potential buyers, including me. My dad, a Karnataka State Government Official, had an Armada and a Sumo for work. I loved the Armada so much that I had a toy version as a kid.

In the updated version, they added cool stuff like a big 9-inch screen for music and more, a fancier display in front of the driver, and a sunroof between the front and back seats. They also put in a front center armrest with air vents in the back, and the door handles on the side look different now. The headlights and fog lights are new too. For the engine, you might have options with a 2.0L petrol or a 2.2L diesel.
The smaller 1.5L 3-cylinder diesel engine might not come with this package. If you want the 4X4 transfer case, you might need to choose a lower-spec RWD version, which is great for city folks who want a good deal. If you go for the fancy LX model, you might get the option for a mechanically locking diff for the back wheels, but it could be an extra add-on.
