Tata Motors is leading the way in India with their electric vehicles.
Not only are carmakers trying to save energy and help the environment, but people are also interested in using cars that don’t harm the planet, and the government is supporting this move to electric cars.
But, there are some issues with electric cars in India. First, we need more places to charge them. Also, they can cost more at the beginning compared to regular cars. People also worry about how far they can go on one charge, how fast they can go, and how long the batteries last. Despite these challenges, we’re getting ready for new electric cars in 2024. Upcoming Electric Cars in 2024:
Tata Curvv EV:
Tata Motors is adding another electric car to its lineup called the Curvv EV. We saw it as a concept in 2023, and now it’s been seen on the road. It looks like a coupe and will use the same power system as the new Nexon EV. You can choose a battery for a medium range or a long range. The Nexon EV can go about 500-550 km on a full charge. The Curvv EV should be out in early 2024, and Tata also plans to add Harrier EV and Safari EV to their electric lineup.
Maruti Suzuki eVX:
Maruti Suzuki is testing a new electric car called eVX. We first saw it in 2023, and it was also at the 2023 Tokyo Motor Show. This is Maruti’s first electric car, and it will use technology from Toyota. It will be made in Gujarat. The eVX will have a lot of features for both the driver and passengers, including a system that helps with driving. The concept had a big battery that can go 550 km, but the real one might have a smaller battery that goes 400 km. Mahindra XUV.e8 and BE.05:
Mahindra is teasing us with videos of three new electric SUVs – XUV.e8, XUV.e9, and BE.05. We saw them going really fast in Chennai. The XUV.e8 and XUV.e9 are based on the XUV700 and might come out in late 2024 or early 2025. The BE.05 is planned for October 2025. All three cars will use a new platform that has a good battery, a solid structure, and better air flow.
Hyundai Creta EV:
Hyundai was the first to bring an electric SUV to India with the Kona. After that, they gave us the Ioniq 5 electric hatchback. Now, they’re testing the Creta EV in Chennai and Haryana. It will be smaller than the Kona Electric and Ioniq 5. It will use a battery that can go about 550 km on one charge. We might see it at the 2025 Auto Expo before it officially comes out.
