Born as Sampurna Singh Kalra, Gulzar is not only a poet and lyricist but also a renowned film director and producer in India. Growing up with a love for classical music, Gulzar is known for his unique way with words. Famous for his touching lyrics in movies like Anand, Omkara, Khamoshi, Thodisi Bewafai, Do Dooni Char, Bunty Aur Babli, and Safar, he received the Sahitya Akademi Award in 2002 for his collection ‘Dhuaan.’ More honors followed, including the Padma Bhushan in 2004 and the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2013.
