Raja Menon spilled the tea on making ‘Pippa,’ making it clear it won’t be one of those overly patriotic movies. He thanked his team for having his back and making his dream movie come true. Ishaan Khatter, who plays Brigadier Balram Singh Mehta, also shared his thoughts on the gig.

‘Pippa’ dropped on Prime Video on November 10. With Ishaan Khatter, Mrunal Thakur, Priyanshu Painyuli, and more in the cast, it’s directed by Raja Krishna Menon. He talked about how easy it is to make a super patriotic movie, but ‘Pippa’ is not that. Ishaan also called it an ‘external bravado.’

‘PIPPA’ DIRECTOR SAYS FILM IS NOT JINGOISTIC

RAJA MENON KICKS JINGOISM OUT OF ‘PIPPA’ Raja Menon, known for movies like ‘Chef’ and ‘Airlift,’ said making patriotic movies is a breeze. But he’s thankful his team agreed to make ‘Pippa’ different. “It’s way simpler to make loud, super patriotic films, you know, the kind where everyone yells about destroying everything. Luckily, everyone involved in ‘Pippa,’ from producers to actors and crew, agreed we’re not making that kind of movie. It was a team effort,” he spilled.

He added, “We’re telling a real story here. Making movies takes a lot of cash, and usually, people take the easy route, especially with big-budget films. I lucked out with a team that let me stick to my guns and make the movie I wanted to make.”

ISHAAN SHARES THOUGHTS ON ‘PIPPA’ The movie zooms in on Brigadier Balram Singh Mehta, played by Ishaan Khatter, and his siblings’ bravery during the 1971 war. Raja hopes folks find this real war story entertaining. Ishaan, aka Mehta, said ‘Pippa’ is more about the human journey and less about showing off. He explained, “It’s about doing what’s right, fighting for the liberation of others. That feeling is powerful and unique, different from just causing chaos. It was a beautiful emotion to play, and I hope people get it.”

The film, also featuring Mrunal Thakur and Priyanshu Painyuli, is now on Prime Video starting November 10. Mrunal, known for ‘Love Sonia,’ ‘Super 30,’ and ‘Jersey,’ can’t wait for ‘Pippa’ to light up screens before Diwali. Ronnie Screwvala and Siddharth Roy Kapur produced this authentic cinematic journey.
