Yo Yo Honey Singh’s divorce with wife Shalini Talwar has been finalised by a Delhi court. As per reports the singer/rapper paid an alimony of ₹1 crore. In 2021, Shalini had registered a case of domestic violence against the singer in court.
In the legal world, a Delhi court recently approved the divorce of popular singer-rapper Honey Singh and his wife, Shalini Talwar. Their marriage of almost thirteen years came to an end. The family court’s Principal Judge, Paramjit Singh, gave the green light for the second motion in this case, putting a stop to a lengthy legal dispute that lasted for nearly two and a half years.
As per the Hindu Marriage Act, a second motion is made between six to eighteen months after filing the initial divorce petition. This waiting period allows the involved parties some time to think about their decision.
Court in Delhi has given singer Honey Singh a divorce!
Honey Singh and Shalini Talwar tied the knot in January 2011. In September 2022, after eleven years of marriage, they mutually filed for divorce in the family court under section 13B of the Hindu Marriage Act. The court accepted the petition and gave them a six-month waiting period.
Honey’s lawyer, Ishan Mukherjee, shared with Hindustan Times, “The second motion has been granted, and the divorce decree has been issued.” However, he didn’t provide further details, emphasizing the private nature of this matter. Vivek Singh, Shalini’s lawyer, also refrained from commenting, highlighting the personal and matrimonial aspect of the case.
In August 2021, Shalini had filed a domestic violence case against Honey in the Delhi Tis Hazari Court. However, shortly after, Honey refuted the allegations on social media, calling them “odious,” “false,” and “malicious.” Eventually, the parties settled, and the accusations were withdrawn.
