6th North East India Fashion Week: The sixth North East India Fashion Week, also known as The Artisans Movement, kicked off on November 18 at Koro Happa River Island in Jollang, Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh. It showcased amazing designs to a big audience.
The chief minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Pema Khandu, was the chief guest, and Techi Kaso, a state MLA, joined as the chief patron. Bikash Debbarma, a minister from Tripura, was the guest of honor. They all attended the opening ceremony.

The event, organized by One Arunachal, a registered NGO, aims to raise awareness and preserve the traditional and cultural heritage of Arunachal Pradesh. Over three days, more than 30 designers and artisans will present their creations.
On November 20, the fashion lineup includes designs from Arunachal Pradesh by Gleam Dive, followed by creations from Assam’s Dimasa weaver Ritu Daulagaphu. Other highlights include shows by Metam Veo, folk musician Warklung Phu Ningding, and specially-abled artisans presenting a sequence by Sawabalambi.

Designers like Neeta Sidisow, Hibu Ollo Budhi, and the dynamic duo Nang Watika Mantaw and Nang Wenika Namchoom will also showcase their talents. Arunachal Idol-fame singer Markio Tanaldo will give a thrilling performance, and the show will conclude with designer Rupa Rebe, featuring Rubaru Mr India and Mr Arunachal 2023 as showstoppers.
Yana Ngoba, the event’s organizer, aims to empower artisans and weavers in Northeast India through this initiative. One Arunachal’s chairman, Joram Tat, shared, “Through North East India Fashion Week – The Artisans Movement, we want to identify artisan role models, boost their self-esteem, and provide a platform for their unique talents. With our NGO’s support, we’re committed to training and promoting weavers and designers, enhancing employability, and establishing a brand presence globally.”
