Maruti Suzuki Jimny launched in South Africa

Suzuki brought the Jimny 5-door to South Africa, starting at R 429,900 (Rs 19.65 lakh). It’s one of the first places outside India to get both the 3-door and 5-door versions.

The South African Jimny looks a lot like the one in India, with its familiar front end featuring a slatted grille and cool round LED headlights.

Inside, the Jimny 5-door in Africa keeps the retro vibe with analog dials for climate control. It’s user-friendly with easy-to-reach controls and comfy fabric seats.

Tech-wise, it’s got a 9-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, cruise control, keyless entry, and safety features like six airbags, ABS, and electronic stability control.

Under the hood, it’s the same 1.5-liter engine, giving you 102PS and 130Nm, with a choice between manual and automatic. The Jimny handles rough terrains with Suzuki’s AllGrip Pro 4×4 system and a sturdy 3-link rigid axle.

In India, the Jimny comes with a price tag ranging from Rs 12.14 lakh to Rs 15.05 lakh (ex-showroom), competing with tough rivals like the Mahindra Thar and Force Gurkha, both available in 3-door versions for now.
